**The core responsibilities of the position include**:

- Coordinate and implement Safety, Health, Environmental management systems in line with company standards and legal requirements
- Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and ISO standards through audits, inspections and monitoring
- Facilitate incident investigations, root cause analysis and ensure corrective and preventive actions are closed out
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in SHE performance across the department
- Support line management in enforcing compliance and SHE best practices on the shop floor
- Plan and coordinate SHE training, awareness and induction programmes for employees and contractors
- Compile accurate reports on SHE performance, including leading and lagging indicators
- Monitor risk assessments and safe operating procedures, ensuring they are up to date and effectively implemented
- Promote a culture of proactive SHE ownership at all levels within the department

**The requirements of the position include**:

- Minimum requirement is a National Certificate or Diploma in Safety, Environmental Management or a related field
- At least three years’ experience in a manufacturing or heavy industry environment
- At least five years’ experience in a manufacturing or heavy industry environment
- Experience in conducting audits, risk assessments and incident investigations
- Excellent report writing, communication and presentation skills
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability
- Ability to work independently, under pressure and outside of normal working hours as required
- Good interpersonal and Industrial Relations skills with the ability to influence at all levels
