Specialist: Integrated Network Planning

Do analysis of current and future technology changes impacting on Openserve’s Communications Network. This includes maintaining a technical awareness of the latest telecommunications developments and support the strategic key deliverables in compiling and updating the relevant Integrated Network Information, Technical Plans and Master Plans for Openserve.

**Responsibilities**:
The incumbent will be required to:

- Provide high-level support and consult various role-players across the value chain to modernise the Openserve network across regions.
- Establish and maintain relationships via the following media: Workshops, Conferences, Forums and Special interest groups
- Compile Network Master Plan w.r.t. Switching, CCS7, Synchronisation and Transmission, All IP (OSNet & MENet) and submit for approval
- Research internationally accepted norms (ITU & ETSI), compile Technical Plans and distribute to relevant role players
- Provide Master Plan, Technical Plan and costing for Customer Specific Solutions (CSS) projects
- Provide alternative recommendations for requests regarding New Technology.
- Participate in special projects w.r.t. SME Teams, Special Events,
- Regulatory, Interconnections, Network Services and Value Added Services
- Compile Growth and Modernization Plans in conjunction with demand forecasting information
- Update repository and maintain database w.r.t. Demand Forecast and Network Information, Network Modernisation, Marketing Information, Business Cases, Provincial & Openserve areas, Voice and Non-voice
- Compile reports pertaining to Integrated Network Planning, Network Information, Technical Plans and Master Plans
- Planning processes and Master Plans to include decommissioning and optimization of legacy networks.
- Compiling high-level budgets
- Do presentations to Management and Regional Integrated Planning divisions

**Qualifications**:
Relevant 4year BSc: Electrical/Electronic Eng Degree or Master’s/ BTech Diploma in Information Technology and Communication (ITC) (NQF level 8) with 3 years relevant operational experience in a Telecommunications Network Planning environment.

OR

Relevant 3 Year’s degree or National Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Eng or Information Technology and Communications (ITC) (NQF level 6) with 5 years operational experience in a Telecommunications Network Planning environment.

**Experience**:
Relevant 4year BSc: Electrical/Electronic Eng Degree or Master’s/ BTech Diploma in Information Technology and Communication (ITC) (NQF level 8) with 3 years relevant operational experience in a Telecommunications Network Planning environment.

OR

Relevant 3 Year’s degree or National Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Eng or Information Technology and Communications (ITC) (NQF level 6) with 5 years operational experience in a Telecommunications Network Planning environment.

**Special Requirements**:

- Valid driver's license
- Work independently and do self-study/research
- Willing to work outside normal working hours and/or flexi hours
- Willing to travel and stay out overnight

**Comments**:
**Applicants with strong experience in Integrated Network Planning and transmission engineering and planning will have an advantage. They must understand the latest transmission technology.**

**NB**: The Company adopted a hybrid operating model whereby employees will have two registered workplace locations. This job is identified to be performed from home and from the office, therefor the home-based office location is the primary workplace and the official office-based location is the secondary workplace. This is a national position and the Office-based location will be determined by operational needs and the Company's discretion. The position and the office location will either be in Centurion, Gauteng or Cape Town, Western Cape.
