If you would like the opportunity to join a dynamic team, then this is the ideal position for you **Responsibilities**: - Sourcing and developing new merchandise, as well as reviewing existing merchandise, in order to ensure the product offering remains competitive - By fully understanding the customers’ needs, this person must be able to maximise profits and provide a commercially viable range of merchandise at competitive prices - Negotiate effectively - Build and maintain good relationships with staff, suppliers and key functions in the business - Think in terms of the "big picture" as well as consider specifics and detail - Assess complex situations and implement workable solutions - Communicate effectively at all level - Understanding business trends and target markets - Strategically influencing product and assortment/range planning, based on historical and forecasted information - Being able to critically analyze and evaluate data in order to make strategic business decisions, which affect turnover and business growth **Requirements**: - A proven track record in buying or a similar related field - Contributed to growth / profit through innovative and creative ideas - A good working knowledge of the current computer software packages (knowledge of Excel, Word & E-mail would be preferable) - Experience in sourcing from various sources and countries - Experience in dealing with reputable brands and/or small domestic appliances would be preferable - 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role Competencies and behaviours for success: - A passion for homeware and appliances - High levels of creativity - An entrepreneurial, merchant-style of thinking - Excellent organisational skills - Uncompromising negotiation skills - Good analytical skills and a high attention to detail
