We are looking for a dynamic, creative and energetic Senior Buyer to join our Markhams team. Have you got what it takes? TFG’s mission is to be the leading fashion lifestyle retailer in Africa whilst growing its international footprint by providing innovative products, creative customer experiences and by leveraging its portfolio of diverse brands to differentiate its offering. **Responsibilities**: - Successfully source and procure a range of apparel and accessories, - Procure and range build appropriate ranges aligned to the strategy with special attention to all trading opportunities. - Work closely with the planner, through analysis of previous sales patterns, market trends and brand initiatives. - Formulate departmental strategies to maximize sales and then timeously source and secure stock to implement strategies. - Negotiate effectively. - Build and maintain good relationships with staff, suppliers (both nationally & internationally) and key functions in the business. - Think in terms of the "big picture" as well as consider specifics and detail. - Assess complex situations and implement workable solutions. **Requirements**: - Have experience as a Buyer (5+ years essential) - Have a high degree of organisation and prioritization skills - A working knowledge of the current computer software packages (knowledge of Excel, Word & E-mail would be preferable). - Denim experience - detailed knowledge in denim fabric, denim washing, product knowledge and product development, good understanding of quality assurance with good technical understanding of fits and able to make decisions in terms of quality and fit specifications - Good understanding of brand building and can provide product knowledge and education to store staff - Good understanding of merchandising, styling and provide marketing direction if required. - A creative individual that can pick up forward trends, build and develop full ranges in line with the brand equityCompetencies and behaviours for success: - Have a strong business acumen and merchant thinking - Excellent planning, organising and interpersonal skills - Have a high degree of decision making ability and be service orientated - Be assertive and communicate at all levels. - Be a team player - A proven solid track record in buying - An interest in and knowledge of trends
