Our client, who operates in the Higher Education, Technical, Vocational & Further Education Training, Distance Learning and Executive Education, is looking for a Dean of Faculty to be based in Bryanston. Their campuses are located across major cities and burgeoning hubs in South Africa at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Duties & Responsibilities
The Dean of Faculty is the executive head of the group of programmes allocated to the Faculty and as academic leader, is accountable for the academic mission of a faculty, its strategic positioning and pursuit of strategic goals as derived from the Strategic and Business Plans of the Institution. The Dean of Faculty is ultimately accountable for the regulatory compliance, academic delivery across sites, and responsible for the rollout of all academic programmes allocated to the Faculty. It is the dean’s responsibility to ensure that their faculty meets its goals to attract, retain and educate students for the evolving world of work and that the curriculum provisioning aligns to the changing trends and requirement. This position also will include accreditation, reaccreditation, review, delivery, academic assessments and audits.Responsibilities: 1. Strategic academic and operational management of the Department. 2. Promoting the Departments research profile. 3. Ensuring scholar academic and professional education and training. 4. Research innovations to constantly improve the value offerings of the faculty. 5. Play an active role as an academic leader in and outside of the institution. 6. Ensuring pastoral and academic care of students is embedded in the lecturing staff workload model. 7. Ensuring that there is equal duty of care for contact and distance learning students alike.

Desired Experience & Qualification
Minimum requirements:
1. Doctorate in the related discipline. Professorship is an advantage

2. Demonstrated track record as an academic and thought leader in the sector.

3. Experience in high-level liaison with internal and external stakeholders and professional boards.

4. An appropriate vision for the Department.

5. Current and past industry experience is an advantage.

6. Demonstratable thought leadership and public presence in the digital capabilities discipline is an advantage.

8. Peer Review Journal Publications local and International

.9. A proven Masters supervision track record.

10. Strong leadership skills, as well as strong interpersonal communication skills.

11. Assist in the development of relevant (Short) courses for the industry and contribute to our growing executive education portfolio.

Advantages and Preferences

1. Managerial Experience at a tertiary institution.

2. A strong research and leadership record in one of the departments research specialization fields
