**CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER POSITION**
The Molteno Institute for Language and Literacies NPC is looking to appoint an experienced Chief Executive Officer The position is based in Molteno Head Office, Park Town. The role of the CEO is to provide overall strategic direction, leadership and effective management of Molteno Institute within guidelines set up by a board of directors, through:
- Leading the process of developing an organisational strategy in line with the Board’s vision and approved Company budget
- Acting as a Liaison between the Board, Management and key financial and beneficiary stakeholders as well as other relevant stakeholders
- Acting as an accounting and public officer for the Company
- Managing and leading the Board approved transformation process of Molteno Institute
- Managing and leading employees and ensuring the achievement of Molteno Institute’s approved strategy.
**Job qualification requirements**
- A relevant postgraduate education or Project/Programme Management qualification
- A Master’s degree would be an added advantage.
- Project/Programme Management Certification
- Early Childhood Development Management Certification
- A minimum 8 - 10 years’ experience gained at a senior leadership level in the education sector.
- 8 - 10 years’ experience within the NPO/NPC/Development/Project or Programme environment is desirable
**Key Competencies Requirements**
- Extensive experience in strategic planning and execution
- Extensive experience in operating at board level.
- Extensive management experience
- Extensive experience in organisational transformation - diversity/ equity/ inclusivity/ culture/ financial/ service
- Extensive experience in high-level communications - including, but not limited to, internal written and verbal communication, and external stakeholder and media engagement.
- Extensive experience in stakeholder management, reporting and networking.
- Working knowledge, understanding and experience of relevant regulatory environment and applicable regulations, policies and strategies applicable to a non-profit/ public benefit organisation
- Programme development and management experience
- Experience in Early Childhood Development (ECD) management
- Prior experience as a Senior Executive in a Project / Programme or ECD environment
**Training and Knowledge**
- Sound knowledge and understanding of project / early childhood development (ECD) environment and relevant requirements.
- Understanding of the national education curriculum and related education legislation
- Understanding of the stakeholder needs and their competing priorities.
- High level knowledge of the not-for-profit business environment, legal requirements and a basic understanding of NPC/NPO reporting requirements, understanding of local and international funders expectations and reporting requirements.
- Ability to establish and maintain strategic collaborations, alliances and partnerships.
**JOB DESCRIPTION**
**Sound and Good Corporate Governance**:
- Ensure effective implementation of decisions of the Board.
- Ensure effective meeting of financial stakeholder expectations and associated reporting requirements.
- Provide input and guidance to Board and Board Committees to facilitate effective strategic decision making.
- Report to Board, Board Committees and financial stakeholders on Molteno Institute’s environmental, social and governance performance.
- Ensure the immediate and broader business environment is constantly assessed in order to identify micro and macro issues impacting (or likely to impact) the organisation and inform the Board thereof.
- Oversee and ensure strict compliance with prevailing legislation.
- Ensure that the Board is supported with advice, research and insights, planning, co-ordination, monitoring and evaluation of services for the achievement of Molteno Institute strategic objectives
- Manage the provision of administrative support to the Board and Board Committees.
- Act as a professional advisor to the Board on all aspects of the organisation's activities and delegate as appropriate to relevant Executives and Managers.
- Conduct official correspondence on behalf of the Board as appropriate and jointly with the Board when required.
**Strategy Development and Implementation and Budgeting**
- Develop and monitor long-term and short-term objectives, policies, budgets and operating plans for Molteno Institute, in alignment with relevant regulatory frameworks.
- Plan, direct, control and monitor operational activities of the organisation to ensure effective performance against approved strategic objectives of the Company.
- Set the programming vision of the Company and leading the Programme Leads/Managers to implement the vision in an agile, yet sustainable and economically prudent, fashion.
- Ensure alignment of strategy amongst employees and stakeholders.
- Agree, manage and oversee the business plan for the three-year funding cycle in terms of the Service level
