Webhelp is on a mission to enhance our contact centre's safety landscape we're seeking a strategic and dynamic Health and Safety Manager to lead this charge in our Cape Town office.

**What you’ll be doing**
- Developing and implementing innovative HSE strategies, ensuring compliance with regulations and reducing the risk of accidents and health hazards
- Designing impactful communications and initiatives that educate and empower colleagues about Health and Safety (H&S)
- Interpreting authority or government legislations and implementing relevant controls for emergency incidents, health outbreaks or pandemics
- Proactively conducting horizon scanning exercises to ensure that the business is prepared for new legislations and best practices
- Working with business teams to integrate H&S into daily operations
- Enhancing H&S processes, overseeing risk assessments, and recommending improvements to risk controls
- Reporting and alerting senior parties to high frequency and serious risk situations
- Planning and supporting H&S committee meetings, covering legal and business requirements with HSE reps
- Improving the efficiency and effectiveness of H&S processes and procedures
- Managing of the DSE process and responding to Access to Work requests, liaising with third party suppliers as appropriate
- Coordinating training of H&S reps and fire wardens across the H&S champion community
- Planning, coordinating and attending internal and external H&S audits and inspections, including those conducted by local fire authorities
- Ensuring H&S incidents are appropriately recorded by H&S champions
- overseeing the tracking, investigation to completion and escalations as required
- Coordinating the carrying out of annual fire drills, including improvement actions with Operations and wider business projects, including new clients and new buildings
- Engaging with suppliers for H&S supplies and services
- Maintenance on H&S assets (AED, evac chair)

**What you’ll need**
- Strategic mindset with strong knowledge of safe work procedures, risk assessments, and control management
- Proficiency in ISO45001 standards, coupled with a structured and proactive approach to problem-solving
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills
- Strong organisational skills, ability to make informed decisions, and manage time effectively
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Team leadership experience
