**GALLERY AND SHOP ASSISTANT**

Norval Foundation and Boschendal Farm is partnering on a non - commercial (museum) and a commercial programme (gallery and shop) in the historical Boschendal Manor House. The Gallery and Shop Assistant will manage and drive sales and revenue and customer service in the commercial gallery and shop.

**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDES BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO**:

- To liaise between the partners, Boschendal and Norval teams.
- Manage day-to-day operations and sales of Shop,
- Manage day-to-day operations of Museum Front of House and in -house Events.
- Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers, patrons, and customers.
- Assist with the execution of agreed events, projects and initiatives.
- Assist with Marketing and Brand plan, liaise with Boschendal Marketing team to ensure execution of marketing plan.
- Ensure the daily operation function of the store and gallery, including but not limited to sales, ordering, merchandising, dusting of stock, scheduling, openings and closing times, exhibition launch preparations, execution of in-store activations, promotional activities.
- Achieve daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets.
- Assist clientele beyond primary purchase desires and utilize each engagement to further satisfy clients’ needs by making secondary purchase suggestions.
- Furthering knowledge of products to ensure customer retention.
- Understand and utilization of Point-of-Sale systems and procedures.
- Inventory management and administration, including the receipting of all stock, the ordering of replenishment stock, the execution and scheduling of seasonal stock takes and accounting for variances thereof.
- Responding efficiently and accurately to customer complaints
- Create detailed reports on weekly, monthly revenues and expenses
- Promote the brand in the local community through word-of-mouth and events
- Assist in training part-time employees in customer service practices
- Organize rosters for part time staff.
- Implement and uphold Boschendal policies, processes, and protocol
- Maintenance Visual Merchandising on store level
- Pursue external sales, including but not limited to corporate gifting and establishing long term relationships as an on-going value-added service offered by store.
- Engage with all clienteles as a positive representative. Conduct frequent product reviews to evaluate product sales performance, considering feedback from clientele.
- Establish friendly relationships with regular clients.
- Liaise between clients and Boschendal events team re budget and event requirements
- Set up site visits and meetings in order to plan each element ahead of time.
- Assist with all pre-event planning, coordinate suppliers, and troubleshoot on the day of the event to ensure that all runs smoothly.
- Manage in house small events (giving full briefings pre-event and debrief post event)
- Oversee the breakdown and removal of event set-up and clear/clean the venue efficiently
- Produce post-event evaluation to order to improve future events.

**EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT**:

- **Working experience (Essential / Preferred)**_
- Sales and customer experience and satisfaction.
- Worked across diverse cultures and geographies. Creative and innovative.
- Managing of museum and opening events.
- Understanding of museum/cultural world an advantage.
- A keen interest in art, understanding of art and art related products important.
