**The Role**
We are looking for an outstanding, detail-oriented, and self-motivated Analyst to join the Reconciliation team. You will report to the Reconciliation and Settlement Manager and work with other Analysts and Specialists.
The position is based in Johannesburg, South Africa.
**You will be a good fit if you have**:
- Bachelor's Degree; in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience in Banking/Mobile Money Operations with at least 1 years of experience working with reconciliations.
- Strong organizational skills with an impeccable attention to detail.
- Passion for numbers and accounting, and get a smile on your face when the numbers all tie up.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Strong analytical and problems solving skills.
- An achievement-orientated and results-driven attitude.
- A taste for adventure and an interest in working in a fast-paced and fun start-up environment.
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and MS Office.
- Experience with Xero software an advantage.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Achieve in-depth knowledge of process flows, operational requirements, and system design.
- Perform reconciliations, ensuring availability of partner data and pro-actively escalating where required to source relevant information.
- Investigate, analyse, and clear all reconciliation issues, whether unsuccessful transactions, reversed transactions, or any other type of transaction that falls into an exception.
- Identify any MFS Africa data issues and escalating these to responsible parties.
- Prepare daily Net Settlement Positions for MFS Africa partners, including weekly and monthly settlement discussions and reconciliation sign-off.
- Actively look for opportunities to standardize processes / automate / re-engineer / eliminate nonvalue added activities and implement them to improve efficiency and drive process, customer and partner journey improvements to drive optimization across Recon.
- Ensure effective follow ups and escalations, both internal and external, in resolving outstanding reconciliation items, process and system issues, as per agreed SLA.
- Ability to differentiate escalations to various senior levels depending on the nature and impact of an issue/open reconciliation.
- Drive for results and ensures best practices are in place to achieve highest standards within daily operations.
- Handle customer queries and correspondence within the earliest of agreed timeframe as per SLA or within 8 hours of receiving the queries or correspondence (both internal and external). If resolving the query or providing feedback on the correspondence will take longer than 8 hour, immediately reply by confirming receipt and provide an estimated time to expect feedback.
- Maintain effective working relationships with all departments, country and internal stakeholders.
- Perform root-cause analysis of reconciliation errors and issues with clearly articulated mitigation plans.
- Maintain responsibility for your own learning and development and actively identify improvement requirements, internal training and learning opportunities, and mentorship.
