The purpose of this role is to determine suitable source of supply for RFQ’s for all technical related purchases as well as negotiating, placement and expediting Purchase Orders for materials for the Trans Hex Group. The role is also required to co-ordinate, plan, communicate, obtain Quotations all repair and ordered equipment to be purchased and to facilitate the tracking and receipt of all equipment sent for repairs or procured from & for vessel.
**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Identify and select appropriate sources of supply taking into consideration the importance of the spares, material and equipment as well as the financial feasibility of ordering the spares and the lead time.
- Receive, verify and action approved purchase requisitions for the repair of equipment and where necessary the purchase of spare parts, material and supplies for the best Quality product at competitive pricing.
- Perform technical and commercial evaluation of quotes received in consultation with end users.
- Evaluate supplier performance on delivery, quality, cost and ability to assist with urgency.
- Negotiate trade terms and discount structures with vendors, delivering cost savings.
- Negotiate contracts and establish long-term supplier relationships to ensure cost-effective procurement.
- Monitor price and other market movements
- Administration (including but not limited to updating and maintenance of procurement and RFQ documents) as well as updating a consolidated database with a single point access for all documents related to the requisition to be accessed by the Technical Operations Managers.
- Prepare purchase orders based on quotes analysis and end user input. Ability to analyse and interpret drawings, data, manuals, catalogues and equipment failures.
- Adhere to OHSAS, and operational Policies and Procedures
- Provide advice and guidance to end users pertaining to equipment failures analysis and improvements.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with stakeholders (incl. vendors/suppliers, customers, team)
- Supplier audits and evaluations.
**Qualifications & Experience**:
- Previous working experience in technical / engineering role in the marine and/or mining industry (mandatory)
- Diploma in Purchasing/Supply Chain Management - advantageous
- 3 - 5 years technical experience in a Marine and/or Mining environment (mandatory)
- 3 - 5 years procurement experience in a Marine and/or Mining environment - (mandatory)
- In depth knowledge of Marine Mining processes and material requirements, class requirements and statutory marine regulations
**Role-specific knowledge**:
- Good inter-personal skills and ability to work under pressure
- Negotiating and networking skills
- Ability to analyse and interpret information.
- Knowledge of SAGE or similar ERP system and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong Supply Chain administration skills
- Commodity knowledge and strong governance skills
