Senior Buyer

Primary Tasks:

- Source, liaise and negotiate with suppliers
- Ensures that supplier service levels and quality of the products are as required
- Negotiates price and quality requirements with suppliers
- Sources and procures goods and services in SA and globally
- Good understanding of import procedures, import codes. Import tax laws, etc.
- Visits supplier premises and verifies safety and security requirements
- Negotiates trade and settlement discounts
- Verifies supplier references and provides supplier recommendations
- Ensures compliance with forwarding agent procedures and requirements
- Ensure on-time delivery
- Product forecasting/budgeting
- Stock control Requirements

Qualification and experience:

- Grade 12 with a diploma in purchasing or other appropriate qualification
- 3-5 years’ experience as a buyer in a technical (electrical and mechanical) field
- Accpac database experience is preferable
- Must be competent in computers (MS Word, Excel and Outlook)
