Babylonstoren recently launched a fresh foods offering in Gauteng and is now acquiring a food scientist, food technologist or chef with a strong interest in new product development and sourcing, a passion for quality and the ability to manage our Gauteng food suppliers. This role suits a highly motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced, exciting team environment and who can easily adapt to changing market and organisational requirements.

**Responsibilities**:

- Closely work with our Cape Town team to ensure brand integrity in our fresh offering in Gauteng
- Actively seek new products and drive product development/sourcing in Gauteng
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships
- Ensure quality of all products sourced is in line with our product quality standard
- Managing risk and procedures associated with cold chain/fresh produce
- Implement and continuously improve the quality control procedures
- Minimise stock wastage

**Technical knowledge, skills and abilities**:

- Relevant commercial degree/diploma
- Experience managing a fresh foods/FMCG department
- Knowledge of logistics/warehousing and delivery systems and procedures will be to your advantage
- Good understanding of quality control procedures for fresh foods
- Excellent command of Afrikaans and English
- Collaborative work style, good interpersonal skills and able to work well in groups
- Proactive, positive individual with a sense of ownership
