- Stay updated on changes in South African health and safety legislation and communicate these updates to the organization.
- Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures that align with South African laws and industry standards.
- Draft and display required safety documentation, such as safety plans, risk assessments, and safe work procedures.
- Conduct regular **risk assessments** and ensure mitigation strategies are in place to address identified hazards.
- Monitor and enforce the use of **personal protective equipment (PPE)** in compliance with South African regulations.
- Organize **mandatory health and safety training** for employees, including induction for new hires and ongoing education on workplace hazards.
- Educate employees on their rights and responsibilities under the OHSA.
- Investigate workplace incidents, injuries, and near-misses and ensure proper reporting to the Department of Employment and Labour when required.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents and corrective actions in compliance with South African law.
- Develop and maintain **emergency response plans**, ensuring compliance with South African standards.
- Conduct regular emergency drills (e.g., fire, evacuation) and ensure emergency equipment is operational.
