Assistant Mechanic

We are looking for a junior diesel mechanic to assist with the maintenance of our fleet. Must be willing to learn and seeking to gain skill / experience in fleet vehicle maintenance.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assistig with thee regular servicing of the Company’s vehicle fleet according to the manufacturers’ recommendations
- Attend to vehicle breakdowns
- Ensure that services are planned and to notify control in advance when vehicle is due for service.
- Responsible for his/her own safety and health according to the OHS Act and ensure that other staff members and visitors act responsibly while on the Company premises
**Duties**:

- Assist Drivers with Pre-Inspections & Post Inspections of Truck Tractors and Tankers
- Prepares weekly Service Schedule for Fleet Controllers
- Ensures each service / repair has an appropriate Job Card
- Ensures that all service details / breakdown details are recorded on the Job Card
- Orders necessary spares / repairs to equipment
- Ensures all outside work has official Company order number issued
- Is responsible for all spares in store and their issue
- When necessary arranges for vehicle to be serviced by agent and obtain a copy of agents Job Card
- Files all documents in file pertaining to each vehicle
- Does the final check on vehicle prior to returning into service (signs Job Card)
- Comply with all Company Policies, e.g. Safety Policy, Quality Policy, Drugs & Alcohol Policy, etc.

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Hammarsdale, KwaZulu-Natal: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
**Experience**:

- Diesel Mechanic: 1 year (required)
License/Certification:

- Drivers License (required)
