Our client a supplier of cement, lime and related products in southern Africa is actively sourcing for a Inventory Controller.**Purpose of the Role**
- To manage inventory and consignment stock using a computerized system (SAP).
- The primary objective is to maintain adequate levels of stock for the company to meet daily demands while minimizing excess stock.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Monitoring inventory levels and replenishing stock as needed for company plants.
- Managing Master Data changes for all company plants.
- Managing materials requirements planning (MRP on SAP) for all the company plants.
- Managing Obsolete stock and ways of disposal.
- Liaising and negotiating with vendors and suppliers to ensure the quality of stock purchases.
- Coordinating the logistics of stock purchase orders, stock transfers, deliveries and processing.
- Manage and co-ordinate inventory processes, systems and reporting.
- Establish and maintain communication channels with leadership, key team members, and internal business units for data gathering/analysis and to support their business requirements.
- Providing support in all the company plants and ensuring a sufficient level of system knowledge for all people who have influence on inventory accuracy.
- Exceptional understanding of inventory management practices such as ABC analysis and cycle counting
- Perform any other tasks related to the overall objective of the position or department.
- Regular visit to the company plants is required from time to time.
**Minimum experience & qualifications required**
- Diploma in Supply Chain Management with 3 years experience in a related position
- 3-5 years of work experience in Inventory Management
- 3 Years exposure to ERP systems (SAP will be an advantage)
- Previous experience working in the cement or mining industry preferred
**Behavioural skills required**
- Advanced ERP knowledge and usage (SAP, Pilog etc)
- Understanding of, and strong commitment to ethical procurement behaviors
