Team Leader

The main purpose of this position is to provide team leadership within the data administration function of the Economic Statistics Department (ESD) of the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) to ensure quality economic statistics. Detailed Description Fulfil the team leadership function pertaining to the performance and the development of the team. - Plan work for self and others in the team, using discretion in defining, prioritising and allocating work to team members. - Supervise the quality of work, plan and facilitate the delivery of the section-specific outputs as well as optimise and manage section resources. - Perform the data administration function in line with ESD’s data management standards and principles in accordance with the relevant policies. - Develop and implement data administration processes and procedures to ensure accuracy, completeness, timeous delivery and business continuity. - Perform the final validation of source data and meta data across the relevant information technology (IT) systems to ensure validity, accuracy and completeness. - Compile, analyse and provide reports on the data administration function as well as provide recommendations for process improvement to mitigate potential risks. - Effectively manage internal stakeholder relationships as well as resolve external stakeholder issues relating to data sourcing. - Manage data administration projects and participate in cross-cutting ESD projects where required. - Propose and implement the refinement and continuous improvement of systems, tools, controls, methods and processes in the data administration function of ESD. Job Requirements a postgraduate degree in Data Administration, Data Management, Information Management, Computer Science, Statistics or Economics; and - five to eight years’ job-related experience, with at least three years supervisory experience. Additional requirements include: - proficiency in the use of Microsoft (MS) Office products such as MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint; - an affinity for statistics and economic analysis; - knowledge of system integrations and service management; - working knowledge of database administration; - understanding of business intelligence; - service and stakeholder focused; - in-depth understanding of IT governance; - time management skills to operate in a deadline-driven environment; - ability to develop and help grow others; - excellent communication skills (both written and verbal); - excellent report-writing skills; - initiative and problem-solving skills; - analytical skills; - ability to pay attention to detail; and - good interpersonal skills.
