**OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE**

The primary responsibility is to manage the product category, this includes the sourcing of product; development of new product, packaging, and buying of product

**QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE**
- Tertiary qualification or equivalent
- 3-5 years’ experience in a category/ product management role

**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Purchasing**
- Communicate with suppliers in regard to product and procurement thereof. Daily management of reports to monitor stock to ensure that correct levels are maintained
- Responsible for planning of procurement for the category in order to create open to buy by reducing slow moving or sunset stock and managing the allocated budget
- Must meet targets which are set
- Full accountability for the portfolio
- Research of products to ensure we are at the forefront of the market
- Responsible for collaborating with suppliers on product development and then bringing such products to market in collaboration with Sales
- Work in conjunction with R&D to monitor and check that quality of the products is upheld
- Must have good knowledge of all National Standards and all relevant compliance certificates needed in regard to the category and make sure that all items are fully compliant and that documentation is in place and current at all times
- Adhere to company policy in regard to procurement processes and work within the given parameters
- Must be able to make competent presentations in regard to the category when needed
- Prepared to work long hours

**Quality and Compliance**
- Adhere to specified standards, policies, practices and procedures.
- Use appropriate tools to conduct work, and ensure quality, accuracy and completeness thereof.
- Maintain a neat, clean and organised work area.
- Identify and recommend areas / ways to improve processes.
- Responsible for product testing, and ensuring that R&D are testing new product and checking quality on arriving containers and issuing findings if any. Make sure that R&D and management have access to any test reports or compliance documents when needed.
- Make sure all Test Reports are current and on file, ensure current LOA from NRCS is in place.
