- Reports to Refractory Foreman- Purpose:
- Brick and Stone Masons are required to work full time during manufacturing of new Furnaces and Refractories additionally at the customer site for re-bricking sometimes inside enclosures. Bricklayers will work on projects and will work on a project-to-project basis until completion. Some structures that a Brick and Stone Mason works on include foundations, furnaces, cast able pots, pin blocks and blocks- GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
- The key areas of responsibility include:
- Maintaining quality workmanship during the process to ensure that the job scope is completed.- Must be able to set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts- PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- 1. Responsible for tearing out and installing refractory materials in customer equipment on site- 2. Read and interpret drawings and blueprints and work by hand or with hand and power tools.- 3. Measure accurately from an established starting point and uses plumb lines and a mason’s level as required.- 4. Know the properties of various mortars and other bonding materials and applies the knowledge in different projects.- 5. Use hammers or chisels or masonry saws to cut and fit bricks.- 6. Line or reline furnaces, kilns, boilers and similar installations using refractory or acid resistant bricks, concretes, plastics or other material.- 7. Work well independently or with co-workers under a deadline to get the job done.- 8. Experiment with various materials and methods to solve construction problems-
**Inherent Requirements**
- Qualification:
- Minimum N3 level and the necessary Red Seal for a Bricklayer.- Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in relevant field.- Knowledge:
- An understanding of manufacturing processes and some technical knowledge.- Preparing and mixing mortar- Using and maintaining power and hand tools- Cutting out and filling masonry joints in ashlar, rubble and brickwork- Cutting out and indenting new stone pieces.- Repairing, replacing or resetting bricks, furnaces roofs and slabs.- Drilling, grouting and pinning fractured stones, resetting copings.- Performing, washing including mechanical and chemical cleaning of masonry surfaces.- Observing safety in accordance with Regulations and company standards.- Skills and Abilities:
- Communicate effectively with the clients and co-workers- Good attention to detail.- Integrity, being honest and ethical.- Must be capable of displaying a high level of business initiative.- The ability to effectively use the available resources, including equipment and personnel to meet objectives**What Qualification**
