Job Summary
Opportunity for a seasoned ER specialist to join the Corporate and Investment Banking Human Capital team. Will be responsible for overseeing the resolution of employee relations matters, including disciplinary actions, harassment/discrimination allegations, and workplace conflicts whilst providing guidance and support to management and human resources staff in addressing employee relations issues and ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable laws and regulations. The successful incumbent will ideally have a minimum of 10 years’ experience working as an ER specialist within an Investment and Corporate Banking environment. In-depth knowledge of labour laws, employment regulations, and HR best practices coupled with strong conflict resolution skills will be expected/required.
Job Description
- Handle employee complaints and grievances, conducting thorough and impartial investigations to determine the accuracy and validity of the claims.
- Provide guidance and support to management, employees, and human capital team members in addressing employee relations issues, ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable laws and regulations.
- Serve as the Employer’s representative in matters that are referred to external dispute resolution forums such as the CCMA.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Legal, HR, and other stakeholders, to address employee relations issues that arise.
- Oversee the resolution of employee relations matters, including disciplinary actions, harassment and discrimination allegations, and workplace conflicts.
- Conduct training programs and workshops for employees and managers to promote usage of employee relations policies, procedures, and standards, and to inculcate a fair and positive work environment.
- Stay updated on employment laws, regulations, and industry best practices related to employee relations, making recommendations for policy and practice updates or changes as necessary.
- Analyze employee data and trends to identify potential issues or areas of improvement, providing insights and recommendations to the Human Capital team and to management.
- Assist in the development and execution of employee engagement initiatives, including employee recognition programs, surveys, and activities that foster a positive company culture.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee relations records, ensuring compliance with data protection and privacy regulations.
Required Skills
- In-depth knowledge of labour laws, employment regulations, and HR best practices. Established record of successfully attending to the resolution of matters referred to external dispute resolution forums.
- Strong conflict resolution and mediation skills, with the ability to remain impartial and objective.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in conducting thorough investigations and analyzing complex employee relations issues.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret data and trends to make informed decisions.
- Solid understanding of organizational dynamics and the ability to navigate challenging employee relations situations.
- Proven experience in developing and delivering training programs related to employee relations.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and strategically.
- Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Education
Bachelor's Degrees and Advanced Diplomas: Business, Commerce, and Management Studies (Required)
