Motor Merit Desktop Consultant(JG 9)

JOB DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this position is to determine the merit of segmented motor claims by performing investigations, verifying the description of the event with the loss, and ensuring that all valid claims are processed within SLA from the desk. You would also need to identify problematic claims (red flags) and have them sent for further validation by one of the field teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Manage workload and complete claims within SLA.
2. Validate claims from the desk.
3. Listen to relevant recordings, sales/claims/SOS.
4. Complete merit report with all findings.
5. Conduct assessments with clients, interview authorities & witnesses.
6. Deal with Underwriters and Claims technical.
7. Handle complaints, queries and all interactions with clients, Intermediaries, Service Providers, internal stakeholders, Relationship Managers.
8. Present claims in claims committee.
9. Make notes on systems, process claims and upload documents.
10. Compile rejection letters and distribute them to relevant stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
1. Matric/Grade 12.
2. Minimum 3 years' relevant work experience in short-term motor merit claims/claims investigation.
3. Sound understanding of policy wordings and application thereof.
4. Investigative abilities to identify red flag claims.
5. Any previous claims handling, pre-support, and/or post-support experience is advantageous. Knowledge of Abuntex and BPM will be an advantage.
6. Attained product training in the following areas:
1. Motor modules for PL, C/L, and Agri.
2. Specialized motor product C/L and Agri.
3. Principle of insurance.
4. Technical skills obtained through training and courses in the following areas:
1. Introduction to motor.
2. Claims handling procedure.
SKILLS
1. Ability to verify and interpret policy and appraisal detail.
2. Be able to think on your feet.
3. Basic computer skills (MS Office).
4. Familiar with Santam systems.
5. Good communication skills.
6. Excellent telephonic skills.
7. Ability to handle conflict and negotiate.
8. Basic business ethics.
