Job Title: Mechanical Fitter Supervisor
Employment Type: Permanent
Work Model: Onsite ( Travel from JHB to DBN regularly)

JOB CONTEXT:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervisor to oversee a team of Mechanical Fitters working with API 610 pumps, including Sulzer pumps, Byron Jackson pumps (Stage 2, 3, 4), and vertical spider pumps. This role requires a deep understanding of pump mechanics, troubleshooting, and maintenance procedures, along with excellent leadership and safety management skills. The Supervisor will be responsible for guiding the fitting team, ensuring efficient operations, quality workmanship, and compliance with industry standards.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

- Assign daily tasks and monitor team performance to meet project timelines and quality standards.
- Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and training to team members on pump assembly, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Conduct performance reviews, identify skill gaps, and implement continuous improvement initiatives for the team.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations, including conducting safety audits and toolbox talks.
- Enforce the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a safe working environment for the team.
- Oversee troubleshooting, dismantling, inspection, reconditioning, and assembly of pumps, ensuring effective resolution of mechanical failures such as seal, bearing, and shaft issues.
- Develop and manage maintenance schedules to reduce downtime and improve operational efficiency.
- Coordinate with other departments (engineering, procurement) to ensure timely delivery of parts, tools, and materials.
- Ensure all work meets OEM specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
- Prepare reports on maintenance activities, pump performance, and any issues encountered during repairs.
- Maintain inventory of critical spare parts, tools, and equipment, ensuring availability for timely repairs.
- Ensure all maintenance work is completed in compliance with quality standards and properly documented.

Key Requirements:

- Proven experience as a mechanical fitter or technician, particularly with API 610 pumps, Sulzer pumps, Byron Jackson pumps (Stage 2, 3, 4), and vertical spider pumps.
- Strong knowledge of pump mechanics, hydraulics, and rotating equipment.
- In-depth understanding of pump performance and troubleshooting, including seal, bearing, and shaft issues.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements for API 610 pumps and mechanical systems.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a technical team.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and manuals.
- Strong problem-solving, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills.
- Good communication skills for working with internal teams, clients, and vendors.
- Proficiency in using mechanical tools, testing equipment, and diagnostic systems.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively under pressure.
