Role overview

This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic and strategic marketing manager to lead the marketing initiatives for our suite of credit products, including credit cards and home loans, payment features and associated products. This role requires a deep understanding of product marketing, market analysis, customer segmentation, and value proposition development to drive product uptake and utilisation. Audiences include Discovery Bank clients, Discovery staff and the broader public.

Key responsibilities

1. Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies for credit and other products and/or features to drive acquisition, activation, and/or utilisation objectives.
2. Conduct in-depth market analysis to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive positioning.
3. Define and refine customer segments and tailor marketing campaigns to effectively engage target audiences. This includes effective channel selection, experiential events and activations, internal communications and environmental branding.
4. Collaborate with product, sales, and digital teams to develop compelling product propositions that resonate with target audiences.
5. Lead the go-to-market strategy for new credit and other products or features, ensuring seamless launches and sustained growth.
6. Develop and implement campaigns that meet customer needs, driving enhanced customer satisfaction, improved customer experience and increased profitability.
7. Monitor and analyse marketing campaign performance, using insights to optimise strategies, drive continuous improvement and meet business objectives.
8. Manage external agency relationships and oversee the creation of marketing material and branding solutions, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines.
9. Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging marketing channels to keep strategies innovative and effective.
10. Define, implement and change processes as needed.
11. Build and maintain relationships with key business stakeholders, both at a strategic and operational level.
12. Prepare campaign reports to disseminate or present in the applicable forums, as required.
13. Manage and coordinate team members.
14. Ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
15. Ensure that product information is kept up-to-date on the applicable channels.

Knowledge

1. A strong understanding of credit products, payment systems and the regulatory environment.
2. Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms.
3. Understanding of various advertising and media channels, including digital marketing channels and social media.
4. Experience in data analysis and market research.
5. Expertise in Microsoft 365 applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
6. Agency experience, either from working within an agency or in collaboration – especially in advertising, media, and design.
7. An understanding of different Discovery audiences, products and business processes is beneficial.

Education and experience

1. Qualifications
2. Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field; MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is advantageous.
3. Relevant industry certification(s).
4. Experience
5. A minimum of five years' experience in product marketing, preferably within financial services and/or credit products.
6. A minimum of five years' experience in a management position.
7. A proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing strategies that drive product uptake and customer engagement.
8. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable marketing plans.
9. Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
