Accountant Role

We are seeking a skilled Accountant to join our team in George, Western Cape. As a key member of our accounting department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the financial integrity and accuracy of our financial reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and present financial reports to managerial staff, providing insightful analysis and recommendations for future action.
  • Develop financial trends and projections, enabling data-driven decision making.
  • Conduct regular cost-reduction evaluations and implement effective measures to minimize expenses.
  • Manage and maintain accurate financial records, including invoicing and billing.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial procedures and resolve any discrepancies that may arise.
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding billing inquiries and payment processing.
  • Address customer queries and provide necessary information in a timely and professional manner.
  • Prioritize administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the accounting department.
  • Maintain organized and systematic filing systems for financial records.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team to facilitate month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports and statements for management review.
  • Participate in regular stock take activities to maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Contribute to project management by tracking financial aspects and ensuring adherence to budgets.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports for project evaluation.
  • Engage in cost accounting processes to analyze, track, and report on costs associated with business operations.

Requirements:

  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the Transport Industry.
  • Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or a related field is essential.
  • A minimum of 5 years of practical experience in accounting is required.
  • Matric / Grade 12 certification is necessary.
  • A valid driver's license is a must.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, is required.
  • A comprehensive understanding of fundamental accounting principles and procedures is essential.
  • Ability to accurately record financial transactions and maintain financial integrity.
  • Familiarity with Sage online and ability to navigate it efficiently for tasks such as ledger management and financial reporting.
  • Desirable software experience: DataTim.
  • Ability to use these tools for various accounting and administrative tasks.
  • Strong communication skills to convey financial information and interact with colleagues and clients.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail in handling administrative tasks.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.
  • Understanding of financial trends both within the company and general market patterns.
  • Solid knowledge of accounting software, preferably Pastel & Sage online.
  • Experience in people and general management will be given preference.
