In this role, you'll be responsible for ensuring the effective management of risks across our Absa Forensics and Physical Security (AFS) function. This includes supporting the Head of Risk in contributing to functional strategies, operating model, and control design.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the AFS function, providing independent challenge on risk activities while maintaining independence.
  • Implement an effective Operational Risk Management strategy within AFS.
  • Deliver Risk Management Requirements, capabilities, and oversight across the Group Function value chain.
  • Support functions in managing their primary risks.
  • Build effective working relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring information flows across the function and risk team.
  • Collaborate with the 1LoD to identify risks, draft reports for presentation at risk committees or EXCO.
  • Determine appropriate Key Risk indicators (where necessary), implementing Group KRI for relevant sub-risk types.
  • Advise management on emerging global financial services operational risks/trends, facilitating proactive change.
  • Provide input into 1st Line of Defense (1st LoD) governance and control combined assurance activities.
  • Review and provide inputs into function non-risk policies and standards, working with subject matter experts and functional Heads of AFS.
