Strategic Digital Communications Leader

CORE PURPOSE OF THE ROLEThe primary purpose of this role is to provide vision and leadership in the strategic development of the university's digital communication and marketing landscape.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Provide Strategic Management and Leadership: Ensure the delivery of an engaging, innovative, and high-quality digital experience across web and social media platforms for all audiences.
- Support Academic and Institutional Objectives: Enable and support learning and teaching, research, innovation, and internationalization, engagement, and transformation to enhance the academic project and advance institutional strategic objectives.
- Digital Communication and Marketing Strategy: Strategically deploy digital communication and marketing within People and Operations to enhance the academic project as well as institutional and campus objectives.
- Resource Stewardship: Contribute towards resource stewardship and mobilisation in People & Operations within the Communication and Marketing Department.
- University Profile and Positioning: Contribute to the building and enhancement of the Nelson Mandela University profile and positioning.

- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including faculties, schools, and departments, to enhance the university's digital presence.
- Digital Experience Platforms: Manage and optimize digital experience platforms (DXP), enterprise web content management systems (CMS), and social media management systems to ensure a seamless, user-centric, and effective online presence that supports the university's strategic objectives.
- Budget Planning: Plan, manage, and optimize budgets for digital communication and marketing initiatives, ensuring efficient use of resources to support institutional goals.
REQUIREMENTS
- A Master's degree or higher in Digital Marketing, Communications, IT, or a relevant related field.
- At least 6 years of experience in digital communication, social media, and web content management.
- Experience working in higher education or a similar environment.
- An innovative mindset and strong problem-solving abilities.
SALARY ESTIMATE: Based on national averages, we estimate the salary for this position to be around R900,000 - R1,200,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
