Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has become available for a seasoned Production Supervisor to lead our team in New Germany KZN.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with attention to detail, passionate about delivering high-quality results and fostering a productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Liaise with the Operations Manager to align current projections with actual sales performance.
  2. Review and adjust monthly planning schedules and weekly production plans to ensure optimal execution.
  3. Conduct weekly production meetings to identify and address opportunities for improvement and optimize production requirements.
  4. Monitor market demand versus stock levels, identifying potential shortfalls and recommending corrective actions.
  5. Review plant availability, including condition, planned maintenance, and scheduling.
  6. Ensure all necessary resources are in place, including staff, equipment, materials, and weighing scales.
Controlling (Production)
  1. Verify that the plant and personnel are safe to operate at the start of each shift.
  2. Monitor production flow to ensure compliance with safety and health standards, quality requirements, and best practices.
  3. Identify deviations from required standards and initiate corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  4. Optimize control room and operator interactions to address gaps and improve efficiency.
  5. Monitor material batches and address any nonconformances.
  6. Identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  7. Ensure the physical security of negotiable items, such as products.
  8. Oversee process changes in response to varying operating conditions, logging manual interventions and recommending improvements.
Documentation
  1. Produce reports on variable elements related to production, including daily and weekly production, maintenance, and safety.
  2. Input production data into the system (BOM).
  3. Produce statutory records as required.
  4. Ensure the availability of documents.
  5. Procure local buyouts.
Leadership
  1. Select and appoint team members.
  2. Enable team members to deliver their capacity through training, communication, and setting clear performance standards.
  3. Create a performance-enabling environment by addressing working conditions, providing feedback, support, recognition, and rewards, promoting teamwork, fairness, and other best-practice leadership processes.
  4. Discover sources of workplace conflict and resolve them proactively.

  3. Knowledge within the Hardware or Retail sector would be advantageous.
  4. Knowledge of IQ Retail System would be advantageous.
