Rooftop Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Operations Specialist to join their finance team in Johannesburg.

This role comes with an estimated salary of R800,000 per annum.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting, tax, administration, and financial management tasks, ensuring timely and accurate completion of financial accounting and management reporting.

  • Manage an accounts team or play a key role in the overall management of the company.
  • Assist with finance staff training and development to ensure up-to-date awareness and knowledge of best practice and financial matters.
  • Ensure the financial team adheres to company policies and regulations.
  • Examine internal systems' accounts (auditing) or provide information for external auditors.
  • Prepare individual entity management accounts within reporting deadlines.
  • Responsible for preparing necessary month-end journals (debits and credits).
  • Perform financial analysis, reporting, and management activities.
  • Ensure timely delivery of financial reports.
  • Review financial data for accuracy, correctness, and completeness.
  • Prepare relevant and accurate monthly management accounts for submission to stakeholders, including the CFO and executive management team.
  • Review the effectiveness of accounting and reporting systems to identify areas for enhancement or improvement.
  • Monitor and manage expenses within allotted budgets.
  • Assist in account payable and receivable activities.
  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliation activities.
  • Provide commentary and analysis of month-on-month movements.
  • Comply with and stay updated on relevant tax laws and regulations, as well as finance-related guidelines and codes of best practice.
  • Prepare VAT reconciliations and submit VAT returns for entities.
  • Deal with the SA Revenue Services (SARS), including writing and filing objections, verifications, audits, e-filing, and correspondence relating to taxation matters.
  • Maintain fixed asset registers.
  • Facilitate annual audits and prepare schedules and reconciliations.
  • Manage compliance with SARS registrations and requirements.
  • Provide organisational staff with efficient support and assistance from the finance department.
