About the Opportunity

Clicks Group Limited is an exciting company with a vacancy for a Category Buyer II within our Beauty team. The successful candidate will report into the Portfolio Manager and be based at our Head Office in Cape Town.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to execute the category strategy and achieve financial targets through accelerating category depth, strengthening pricing strategy, and driving private label and exclusive Brands.

Responsibilities and Requirements:

  1. To develop and implement a category plan to reduce cost of goods, optimise contract terms and increase income.
  2. To negotiate favourable trading terms, promote co-op spend, and maintain vendor relationships to ensure performance and timely new product launches.
  3. To maintain relationships with current suppliers and source new ones for future product lines.
  4. To implement a plan to achieve Clicks' value proposition through price and promotion, meeting promotional sales targets.
  5. To translate operating and financial plans into a balanced product assortment and on-shelf display to meet customer needs.
  6. To support private label and exclusive brand sourcing and development to create differentiation, innovation and loyalty.
  7. To review product ranges, analyse buying patterns, predict trends and track competitor activity.
  8. To collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver the operating plan effectively.
  9. To monitor performance indicators like sales, margin and promo quantification.

Desirable Skills:

  • Strong procurement and supply chain background
