About the Position

This exciting opportunity involves working closely with the Department of Home Affairs to analyse Act 49 and the New Identities Management System.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the Department of Home Affairs to analyse Act 49 and the New Identities Management System.
  • Develop SOPs for Act 49, focusing on inclusive aspects for trans and gender-diverse persons and new identities management.
  • Advocate for individuals' right to change their identity documents based on gender self-determination.
  • Challenge existing requirements and propose alternative processes aligned with gender self-determination.
  • Act as amicus curiae in legal proceedings related to gender identity rights.
  • Assess cases to determine alignment with organisational scope and provide support in the litigation process.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in project management, strategic management law, public health, social sciences, education, or any other relevant discipline.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in a law environment.
  • Skills: Clear understanding of media marketing and communication & Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • LAW Environment Experience: Previous experience in a legal environment, with a strong understanding of legal processes and frameworks.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Valid driver's license.
    • Office-based role.
    • Preferably identifies as transgender.
    • Preference given to candidates from the LGBT community.
  • Availability: Immediate availability to start.
