Millwright Specialist

Our client, a leading manufacturer in the industry, is seeking a highly skilled Millwright to join their team at their factory in KZN. The ideal candidate will have a recognized Millwright trade and be multi-skilled in Fitting and Basic Electrical, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

• Plan and prioritize manufacturing activities to ensure efficient production.
• Set targets and ensure their achievement, alleviating bottlenecks and improving factory efficiency.
• Utilize the workforce to optimal capacity, identifying training needs and implementing corrective actions.
• Assist in product design and identify cost-effective ways to improve manufacturing processes.
• Interact with key staff in various departments, including OEM, engineering, operations, and specialist sub-contractors.
• Install, maintain, and repair a wide range of equipment and machinery, including pumps, electric motors, fans, blowers, compressors, gearboxes, pipes, valves, actuators, electrical control gear, instrumentation systems, flow meters, level control instruments, wiring of panels, and lay of cables.
• Set up and operate various types of rigging, including hoists, cables, chains, cranes, and pulleys, to move, locate, and/or relocate equipment.
• Read and interpret drawings, schematics, P&IDs, OEM, and O&M manuals to ascertain procedures and fault finding.
• Define recommendations on whether to refurbish, repair, or replace worn and defective parts or equipment.
• Document all activities by populating job cards with accurate relevant data and building a record of maintenance activities.
• Implement corrective actions learned.
• Maintain minimum stock levels of critical spares and consumables.
• Maintain plant assets, including tools, vehicles, and plant.
• Manage a small team of technical assistants through effective delegation and inspections.

• Matric
• At least 4-6 years post-qualification experience with a solid track record.
• Relevant Production Management diploma/degree will be an advantage.
• Recognized Millwright Trade Certificate.
• Multi-skilled in Fitting and Basic Electrical (done through recognized apprenticeship).
• Minimum of 4-6 years of relevant work experience in industrial plants.
• Valid drivers license and own transport required.
• Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Pneumatics, and Utilities experience in a factory plant environment.
• Basic understanding of SCADA and PLC system.
