Risk Surveyor

This role is responsible for conducting thorough risk assessments across our Commercial Property portfolios. The successful candidate will provide expert risk surveying and risk improvement services to our business partners, working independently to identify and mitigate potential risks. The provision of comprehensive risk insight is crucial for our commercial and retail market underwriters.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out and complete risk assessments, providing survey reports within agreed timeframes.
- Provide Risk Improvement Actions, assessing loss potentials in accordance with agreed definitions.
- Recommend solutions for property risks, identifying actual and potential hazards or loss exposures.
- Conduct Desktop Reviews, supporting external and internal customers by identifying, assessing, and reducing the risks they face.
- Contribute to the Risk Engineering body of knowledge, participating in basic level training for customers and professional/industry groups.
- Lead risk assessment meetings, conducting negotiations with external vendors and clients in a constructive and collaborative manner.
- Relevant industry/insurance experience or certification in Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment.
- Strong communications and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a team environment with minimum supervision.
- Excellent report writing skills, with the ability to work independently and travel as required.
- Knowledge of successful negotiation concepts and techniques, with the ability to establish rapport and build trust.
- Ability to identify and recommend physical and management controls technically appropriate to loss potential.
- Knowledge of techniques, roles, and responsibilities in providing technical guidance to clients, both internal and external.
- Knowledge of successful negotiation concepts and techniques, with the ability to explain the basic concepts of negotiating.
- Ability to identify and recommend physical and management controls technically appropriate to loss potential.
- Knowledge of loss control/Risk Engineering, with the ability to develop risk control plans and management programs to control losses at corporate and local levels.
