Job Summary

This role is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of Old Mutual's production applications and infrastructure. The successful candidate will be individually accountable for achieving results through their own efforts.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure the technical performance of the platform and its evolution.
  • Manage the backlog of defects, gaps, and design features to ensure availability, reliability, performance, and security.
  • Develop and maintain platform architectures and roadmaps.
  • Work with technical stakeholders to define platform strategies and roadmaps.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date architectures of the platform.
  • Develop platform roadmaps of key features and activities.
  • Monitor and evaluate software engineering standards.
  • Progress the platform's capabilities toward being built automatically.
  • Ensure technical debt levels are under control.
  • Develop and maintain run-books for platform services.
  • Manage operations of the platform for audit and stability purposes.
  • Work with Infrastructure and Operations teams to ensure housekeeping and maintenance routines.
  • Work with Infrastructure and Operations teams to plan for capacity levels.
  • Maintain support levels of platform components.
  • Conduct disaster recovery testing according to schedules.
  • Contribute to Service Level Agreements for the platform.
  • Ensure platform security to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Determine root cause of failures and remediation actions.
  • Quality assure all code deployed onto the platform.
  • Build Development Infrastructure and support delivery teams.
  • Create and maintain continuous delivery pipeline toolchain.
  • Create platforms and environments for development, solution demos, and user acceptance testing.
  • Support delivery teams to prepare, package, and deploy solutions.
  • Provide initial support to delivery teams in End-to-End Testing and improving testing maturity.
  • Work with feature teams to create newly automated test scenarios.
  • Test solution performance against non-functional requirements.
  • Stakeholder Management and engagement to enhance service delivery.
  • Identify and maintain continuous engagement with customers/users/services of the platform.
  • Ensure usage guidelines for the platform are documented, published, and discoverable.
  • Publish availability and performance metrics and maintenance plans for the platform.
  • Service delivery to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain service, quality, and desired outputs across business processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems.
  • 5-8 years' experience in project/software delivery and/or in a Software Engineering or DevOps capacity.
  • Knowledge and experience in using and implementing DevOps practices and tools.
  • Experience in systems automation, orchestration, deployment, and implementation.
  • Familiarity with test automation practices and tools.
  • Knowledge and experience in Information Technology service management.
