Leading the Way in Renewable Energy

Pacifica Senior Living Sunrise is seeking an experienced Renewable Energy Project Developer to spearhead groundbreaking, utility-scale solar and wind projects in Johannesburg.

This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned project developer with a proven track record of driving projects from concept to financial close. As a key member of our team, you will be instrumental in delivering large-scale energy projects efficiently and effectively.

Your primary responsibility will be to manage and oversee multiple wind and solar projects at various stages of development, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budget. You will collaborate with design teams on turbine, PV array, and electrical layout planning using advanced GIS tools to identify optimal project sites.

Apart from overseeing project delivery, you will facilitate landowner negotiations, engage in investor selection processes, and establish and manage project budgets. Your expertise in licensing tasks, regulatory bodies, and permitting management will ensure smooth project progression.

As a leader, you will provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, drive negotiations for development agreements and project site sales, and contribute to the preparation of tender submissions. You will also identify and mitigate potential project risks, maintain detailed progress reports, and participate in project reviews and programme assessments.

We are looking for a dedicated professional who can cultivate strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring project alignment with business objectives and seamless execution from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Project Oversight & Delivery: Manage and oversee multiple wind and solar projects at various stages of development, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budget.
  2. Site Identification & Design: Utilise advanced GIS tools for identifying optimal project sites and collaborate with design teams on turbine, PV array, and electrical layout planning.
  3. Landowner & Investor Relations: Facilitate landowner negotiations and engage in investor selection processes to ensure smooth project progression.
  4. Financial Oversight & Budgeting: Establish and manage project budgets, assisting with financial modelling to ensure cost-effective project execution.
  5. Licensing & Permitting Management: Lead the coordination of licensing tasks, liaising with regulatory bodies to secure necessary approvals and permits for successful project execution.
  6. Team Leadership & Development: Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members.
  7. Negotiations & Contract Management: Drive negotiations for development agreements, and project site sales, and contribute to the preparation of tender submissions.
  8. Risk Mitigation & Reporting: Identify and mitigate potential project risks, maintain detailed progress reports, and actively participate in project reviews and programme assessments.
  9. Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring project alignment with business objectives and seamless execution from start to finish.
Requirements:
  1. Extensive experience in the development of utility-scale solar and wind projects.
  2. Successfully managed the entire project lifecycle — from development to financial close — and understand the intricacies of each stage.
  3. You have a strong legal and commercial background and can navigate complex PPA negotiations and regulatory requirements with ease.
  4. Demonstrated success in negotiating land acquisition agreements.
  5. Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are delivered within budget and on schedule.
