Job Summary
Mintek Pty Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer to lead the Process Design Group in the Biometallurgy Division.
The successful candidate will be responsible for researching and developing innovative solutions for heap leaching of precious and base metal resources, treatment of mine effluents and solid wastes.
As a key member of the team, you will supervise and execute complex projects, undertake research related to the objectives of the group, and conceptualise, design, execute, analyse and troubleshoot independently.
You will also be responsible for assessing the environment to determine opportunities for research, transforming opportunities into proposals for funded research, and analysing, interpreting and reporting on complex research outcomes.
In this role, you will work closely with junior staff, lead, guide, mentor and train staff, and supervise post-graduate students.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and execute research addressing complex and often unique problems encountered by the industry sector.
- Undertake research related to the objectives of the group, including desktop studies, preliminary economic evaluations, metallurgical reporting and project reporting.
- Exercise foresight, creativity and judgement based on scientific/engineering principles to ensure that research projects/programmes are planned and guided.
- Conceptualise, design, execute, analyse and troubleshoot independently.
- Assess the environment to determine opportunities for research and transform opportunities into proposals for funded research.
- Analyses, interprets and reports on complex research outcomes and is regarded as an emerging specialist/expert.
Qualifications and Experience
- PhD in Chemical/Metallurgical Engineering (preceded by BSc(Eng) or BEng and MSc(Eng) or MEng).
- Minimum 5-10 years' experience in the field directly related to the duties and responsibilities undertaken in the Division.
- Exposure to, and an understanding of bioprocesses, especially bioleaching.
- Exposure to and an understanding of mine water and waste challenges, treatment, and value recovery.
