Job Summary:


We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Accounting and Tax Specialist to join our team at Organon South Africa. As a critical member of our Finance function, you will be responsible for overseeing the accounting, tax, and controlling functions for our South African entities.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Ensure accurate and compliant results in accordance with US GAAP and local accounting and tax standards
  • Manage the AtR, StS, OtC, and Tax teams in GDO to achieve objectives, maintain process continuity, and implement succession planning
  • Comply with all global and local statutory accounting policies
  • Establish and manage the methodology and GL accounts structure for US GAAP, statutory, and tax accounting
  • Establish and manage transfer pricing setup and documentation
  • Establish and manage actual cost accounting
  • Monitor legislation changes and implement required changes in SAP and accounting processes in a timely manner
  • Prepare and close the books on a monthly basis
  • Manage the annual external audit and draft the annual financial statements
  • Submit statutory and tax reporting to local tax authorities in accordance with legislation
  • Lead the Tax function by identifying and analyzing tax risks for the local legal entity, tax planning, tax support and consulting for business, local finance, and global tax function initiatives, tax analysis to comply with international tax requirements, locally specified tax accounting and tax filing for CIT and VAT, managing all types of tax audits, and timely submission of supporting documentation for remote or onsite tax audits
  • Ensure the appropriate archiving of all hard copy documents, including reporting forms, to ensure compliance with local legislation
  • Make decisions on statutory and tax-related processes, policies, and procedures
  • Manage all types of issues in statutory and tax areas as well as GAAP reporting
  • Support cross-tax audits of vendors or customers
  • Perform and control balance sheet reconciliation
  • Apply SOX and non-SOX controls to local processes and generate oversight of the overall control environment linked to the local legal entity
  • Ongoing process optimization and support of new system implementations
  • Fixed Assets Accounting (GAAP, Statutory & Tax), Direct / Indirect Asset Capitalization, Value & Track of Fixed Assets, Perform Asset Disposals, Obligatory physical inventory counting & tagging

Requirements:



• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or other related areas



• Strong tax and audit experience



• Minimum of seven years of experience in Finance/Accounting with a supervisor role



• Strong knowledge in IFRS is an asset



• Good level of MS Office applications usage and experience of SAP (key user)



• Understanding of business issues, including foreign currency impacts, deferred tax



• Strong oral and written communication skills (English)



• Open-minded, pro-active, result-driven, and self-organized



• Ability to take ownership
