About the Role

The City of Cape Coral is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Director of Parks and Recreation to join our team. As a key member of our Parks and Recreation Department, you will play a vital role in shaping the city's recreational programs and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Policy Development: Assist the Director in establishing and implementing policies, procedures, and best practices to improve operational efficiency and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the Director to develop and implement the Department's strategic plan, goals, and objectives to meet the needs of the community and city workforce.
  • Personnel Management: Evaluate assigned personnel for efficiency and effectiveness, initiate personnel actions, and provide technical support and guidance in their work activities.
  • Staff Development: Establish processes for staff cross-training and provide opportunities for staff training in new skills and/or updating existing certifications.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Parks and Recreation, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in Parks and Recreation Administration, with four (4) years of supervisory experience.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Valid state driver's license and obtain a valid Florida driver's license within thirty (30) days of hire or promotion.
