Job Title: Industrial Mechanic - Brewery Operations

We are seeking an experienced Industrial Mechanic to join our team at The South African Breweries in Port Elizabeth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to the shift-based teams during operations, including standby and day shift assistance.
  • Act as a functional expert in problem-solving and provide guidance on mechanical & electrical equipment, fault finding, and corrective responses.
  • Coach, mentor, and transfer knowledge of machine operation to shift-based teams.
  • Participate in regional and central plant optimisation trials as a functional expert.

Planned Maintenance:

  • Carry out work during planned maintenance windows according to the issued schedule.
  • Feed back to the maintenance controller for direction if scheduled work cannot be completed.
  • Assist fellow team members in executing their tasks during planned maintenance.
  • Complete administration and SAP tasks in support of planned maintenance.
  • Participate in maintenance postmortems to feedback problems, opportunities, and learnings.

Routine Maintenance:

  • Participate in cleaning, lubrication, and inspection according to the maintenance schedule.
  • Carry out routine maintenance activities according to the schedule.
  • Resolve problems uncovered during routine maintenance using appropriate problem-solving techniques.
  • If required, additional resources may be called in to assist.
  • Carry out condition monitoring activities allocated to the Technician according to the CM schedule.

Running Repairs:

  • Carry out running repairs on plant and equipment or support Shift Artisans in carrying out repairs upon request.
  • Assess problems and determine a course of action when carrying out repairs.
  • Call in specialist assistance when required, including internal resources or external contractors/suppliers.
  • Transfer major work to the engineering workshop for attention where necessary.
  • Verify that running repairs have addressed the problem.
  • Complete administration tasks relating to running repairs, including SAP inputs.
  • Communicate with the Maintenance Planner if running repairs cannot be carried out to ensure work is planned into the next window.

Problem Solving:

  • Apply correct problem-solving approach to resolve problems occurring during routine activities.
  • Call in additional resources or escalate to the Engineering Controller for direction when required.
  • Assist fellow team members to resolve problems on request.
  • Participate in FFA's as a functional expert upon request.

Housekeeping and Safety:

  • Operate in a safe manner at all times, identifying and highlighting unsafe work practices.
  • Carry out work according to work instructions and adhere to SAB policies and procedures.
  • Carry out housekeeping tasks and apply 5S principles during duty execution.

Requirements:

  • Matric certification.
  • Recognised Trade Test/Fitter/Electrician qualification.
  • N3 Millwright certification.
