BDO South Africa is seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Consultant or Assistant Manager to join our International Tax and Transfer Pricing team. In this role, you will be entrusted with a variety of responsibilities, including:

Project Involvement:

  • Serve as a primary contact for clients alongside the director, ensuring prompt responses to client inquiries and keeping them updated on service progress.
  • Oversee advisory projects under the guidance of the director, focusing on strategic planning and advising multinational corporations on their tax-related challenges.
  • Manage compliance documentation tasks with oversight from the director.
  • Prepare detailed opinions and analyses.
  • Conduct accrual reviews and due diligence with direction from the director.
  • Draft and manage proposals for client engagements, aligning with client expectations.
  • Innovate and implement creative strategies utilizing the latest technology.
  • Handle billing and cash collection in accordance with the firm's standards.
  • Engage in tax planning and address complex tax issues in collaboration with directors.
  • Ensure project completion within budget constraints and communicate any overruns to clients and directors, while effectively planning staff assignments for optimal experience distribution.
  • Adhere to BDO's quality control protocols.
  • Identify risks and technical issues, as well as potential business opportunities, to discuss with the director, exercising sound judgment within established parameters.

Management Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive support to directors on client matters and assist in client and team management, including recruitment and performance evaluations.
  • Manage work in progress (WIP).
  • Collaborate as a key member of the national International Tax and Transfer Pricing team, supporting fellow tax managers and directors.
  • Actively participate in team management through director/manager meetings and social events.
  • Deliver training to junior staff through on-the-job guidance and performance monitoring, consistently offering constructive feedback.
  • Mentor, evaluate, and motivate team members as necessary.
  • Be responsible for coaching and developing junior staff members.

Sales and Marketing Initiatives:

  • Recognize and pursue business and sales opportunities with support from directors.
  • Engage in proposals and bids for new projects.
  • Capitalize on marketing and public relations opportunities.
  • Build and maintain a network of professional contacts both internally and externally.

Communication and Representation:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with clients at senior levels, ensuring confidence in the firm.
  • Act as a liaison between clients and other specialized service groups within BDO.
  • Contribute to internal training by delivering lectures and presentations.
  • Consult with colleagues and directors on technical and risk-related matters.
