Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Customs Product Manager to join our team at Switch Recruit (Pty) Ltd. As a Customs Product Manager, you will play a critical role in growing our customs product and ensuring the smooth operation of our customs brokerage services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Staff Management: Lead and manage a team of customs professionals to ensure the delivery of high-quality customs services.
  • Classification and Compliance: Ensure accurate and timely classification of shipments for all customers, while maintaining compliance with customs regulations and laws.
  • Duty Deferment and License Management: Monitor and manage duty deferment usage and levels, as well as license and visa applications for our clients.
  • Business Development: Identify new business opportunities and ensure the successful transition of new clients into our customs product.
  • Customer Retention and Sales: Make regular calls to clients to ensure their satisfaction and identify new sales opportunities.
  • Compliance and Training: Work closely with our Trade Compliance Manager to ensure compliance with all customs regulations and laws, and provide training to our team on customs procedures and best practices.
  • Process Improvement: Implement and promote productivity tools and processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our customs services.
  • Audit and Refunds: Conduct regular audits of customs files to ensure accuracy and completeness, and follow up with customs authorities to ensure timely refunds.
  • System Management: Manage and maintain our customs systems to ensure seamless operation and optimal performance.
  • Reporting and Analytics: Generate and send client reports through our database, and provide insights and analysis to support business decisions.
  • Content Creation: Develop content for customer reviews and ratings, highlighting our customs services and expertise.
Requirements:
  • Education: Matric or equivalent.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in customs brokerage, with a strong understanding of customs regulations and laws.
  • Industry Knowledge: Global logistics industry knowledge and experience.
  • Skills: Proven problem-solving, interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
