Key Responsibilities
  • Provide regulatory support and guidance to the Executive Head of Risk and Compliance
  • Monitor and advise on pending, anticipated, and new legislation and bills that impact the business
  • Prepare business impact assessments and training to ensure readiness to comply with new laws
  • Ensure compliance with current regulatory environment, internal policies, and relevant contractual agreements
  • Source and provide reference materials and conduct relevant legal research and provide legal opinions and advice
  • Develop appropriate Terms and Conditions and Contracts for new products
  • Prepare and execute legal documents, including customer and supplier contracts
  • Ensure timely renegotiation and renewal of customer contracts
  • Coordinate engagement and interface with industry regulators
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the EHoD: Regulatory, Risk and Compliance
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, with a Master's degree being an added advantage
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in a legal and/or regulatory role, preferably in a financial services company or fintech
  • Specific experience in dealing with insurance regulators, lending, and payments associations
Core Competencies
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent legal drafting skills
  • Good understanding of corporate and commercial law, as well as the financial services industry
  • Able to interact with regulators and build trust with stakeholders
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
