Job Title: Quality Assurance Manager

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance Manager to join our team at Tower Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality of our products and services, and will play a key role in maintaining our company's reputation for excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • **Internal Quality Management:**
    • Monitor and implement internal quality strategies to reduce defects and improve overall quality.
    • Maintain our Quality Management System (QMS) certification and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
    • Monitor and reduce external Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and ensure that all quality-related issues are addressed promptly.
    • Ensure that all employees receive regular quality training and that our QMS documentation is up-to-date and easily accessible.
  • **External Quality Management – NCRs:**
    • Monitor and implement internal quality strategies to reduce External Customer Non-Conformances emanating from our factory.
    • Direct liaison with customers to resolve NCR concerns and ensure that all quality-related issues are addressed promptly.
    • Maintain the NCR Testing Section and Store, and compile reports on defects and returned units.
  • **Incoming Goods Quality Inspection:**
    • Monitor and implement Goods Receiving Quality inspections on all incoming materials.
    • Compile reports on material defects and relay findings to relevant department managers.
    • Monitor and reduce external NCRs as a result of poor quality incoming materials.
  • **People Development:**
    • Develop, conduct, and facilitate all quality-related training for the organization.
    • Track and maintain training matrices for all employees.
    • Monitor contractors on-site and ensure compliance with procedures and standards.
  • **Engineering Change Management:**
    • Ensure an efficient Engineering Change Management Process relating to Quality.
    • Complete and submit Quality check sheets for approval.
    • Develop quality requirements for new or modified equipment and monitor processes.
  • **Department Management:**
    • Compile and monitor all quality-related information and status updates for timely review.
    • Supervise employees and compile KPIs for all employees.
    • Compile monthly reports on progress against KPIs.
    • Establish and manage document storage systems and archiving.
    • Coach and mentor direct reports to ensure personal development of team members.
    • Ensure staff development to maintain required expertise and skills.
    • Ensure effective leave and absentee management.
    • Investigate and resolve performance issues promptly.
    • Foster a culture of teamwork and understanding.
    • Ensure the team understands and protects the confidentiality of information.
    • Compile daily reporting of quality KPIs.
  • **Project Management:**
    • Support project briefs, timing plans, and budgets for new projects.
    • Define inputs, activities, and outputs.
    • Ensure effective and efficient completion of projects.
    • Effective communication and reporting of project progress against timing plans to affected staff and management.

Requirements:

  • Relevant technical qualification, national diploma, or degree in the mechanical field, coupled with a quality qualification.
  • At least 5 years' quality experience in a manufacturing or related environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of all legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Extremely proficient in audit methodologies and procedures.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Excellent assertiveness skills.
  • Excellent root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Extremely high attention to detail and procedural.
  • Ability to communicate and build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Highly structured and detail-oriented with the ability to follow tasks through to completion.
  • Self-starter – has the ability to work unsupervised and manage own time and activities.
  • Strong facilitation skills.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
