  • Manage a team of underwriters and provide guidance and support to ensure they have the necessary skills and resources to perform their duties effectively.

  • Identify opportunities for new business growth and organic growth.
Stakeholder/Relationship Management/Customer Service
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including advisers and clients.
  • Resolve adviser queries, escalations, and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
Compliance and Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with underwriting activities.
Requirements
  1. Education and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • FAIS and RE compliant.
Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in underwriting, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
  • Proven track record of driving financial and operational performance within a division.
Skills and Competencies
  • Excellent leadership and management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Deep understanding of the South African insurance market and outsource/binder environment.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of personal and commercial lines underwriting.
  • Policy administration system experience and a solid understanding of how insurance systems work.
  • Experience with workflow systems and the enhancement thereof.
