Job Title: Fund Accountant

At SALT Employee Benefits, we are seeking a highly skilled Fund Accountant to join our team. As a Fund Accountant, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting duties for a specific bank account, ensuring accurate and timely reconciliations, and providing support to the Senior Fund Accountant with audit workings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operational Duties:
    • Set up payments on banking, extract bank statements, and ensure accurate and timely bank reconciliations.
    • Manage cashflow and forecast cash requirements in line with the funds policy.
  • Accounts:
    • Prepare fund accounts in line with the fund's accounting policies and implement any changes.
    • Ensure adherence to the Service Level Agreement (SLA) of the fund.
    • Prepare and review monthly and annual working papers relating to ledger accounts.
  • Investments:
    • Liaise with fund managers, brokers, and custodians to communicate information and resolve issues.
    • Monitor and control investment/disinvestment with the respective Investment Managers.
    • Ensure accurate loading of daily and cashflow unit prices.
  • Audit:
    • Plan and coordinate audits to ensure timely and efficient execution.
    • Prepare audit files and working papers for submission to the Fund Accounting Manager.
    • Prepare annual financial statements and provide responses to audit requirements.
  • Valuation:
    • Prepare member data for fund valuation.
    • Liaise with the actuary for timely valuation of the fund.
  • Legislative:
    • Ensure compliance reporting is submitted within the timeframe.
  • Reporting:
    • Prepare monthly management accounts, cashflow statements, and investment reconciliations.
    • Draft the annual budget for the fund and track income and expenses against the budget.
  • Customer:
    • Ensure adherence to customer and service provider SLAs.
  • People:
    • Assist administrators with accounting issues.
Requirements:

Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree or Retirement Fund qualification.
  • Excellent Excel skills, including V-Lookup and pivot tables.
  • FICA awareness training.
  • At least 3 years' experience in employee benefits/retirement fund administration, specifically in a similar role.
  • Good knowledge of pension fund legislation, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Everest experience is advantageous.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of unitisation.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Word.
  • Excellent numerical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
