Maintenance Millwright Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Millwright to join our team at Platinum Placements. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and installations of mechanical and electrical equipment in our heavy industry and non-woven textile facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Inspect and diagnose faults on equipment and machinery
  • Conduct preventive maintenance activities and generate job requisitions
  • Attend to machine breakdowns and escalate issues to the next level if necessary
  • Commission and refurbish machines and equipment
  • Operate and monitor drilling machines, lathes, milling machines, and surface grinding machines
  • Perform basic and MIG/TIG welding of metals
  • Maintain mechanical equipment, including indirect and direct drives, pipe systems, static seals, bearings, brakes, and clutches
  • Design and construct single and three-phase circuits
  • Install and replace electrical equipment, including lighting systems, electrical cables, and conductors
  • Inspect and maintain electrical equipment, including electrical distribution boards, panels, and enclosures
  • Replace electrical equipment, including faulty components in distribution boards
  • Fault find and repair domestic appliances, single-phase AC systems, and three-phase voltage electrical circuits
  • Disconnect and connect electric motors
  • Handle and care for electrical earthing gear and related equipment
  • Joint low-voltage cables
  • Troubleshoot programmable logic controllers
Requirements:
  • Grade 12 School Leaving Certificate
  • Trade Tested Maintenance Millwright Section 13 red seal Millwright trade test
  • N4 electro-mechanical certificate, Siemens PLC
  • 3 years experience as a Maintenance Millwright
  • Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, and wireman's license
  • 5 years experience in heavy industry and non-woven textile industry
  • Computer literacy and minimum N4 Electrical/Mechanical
Working Conditions:

This is a shift position, alternating every week. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to lift heavy equipment and materials.
