Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Public Funding Manager to join our team at Merand Corbett & Associates. As a key member of our fundraising team, you will be responsible for securing public funding for our clients foundation's mission.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Identify and pursue funding opportunities from bilateral and multilateral institutions, ensuring alignment with our priority needs and crafting compelling proposals to support the implementation of our 2030 Strategy.
  2. Develop and maintain relationships with public funders, fostering new connections while nurturing existing ones and ensuring their continued support for our clients foundation's mission.
  3. Represent our clients foundation in discussions with public donors and at donor forums, promoting our work and securing funding opportunities.
  4. Lead and mentor a team of Fund Developers focused on securing public funding, providing guidance and support to ensure their success.

Requirements
  1. A degree or equivalent qualification in natural or social sciences, or a related field.
  2. A minimum of ten years experience in conservation, sustainable development and/or climate change work in developing countries.
  3. Extensive expertise and experience in securing funding from bilateral and multilateral institutions, including project proposal development and ensuring compliance with environmental and social safeguards.
  4. Experience in building and maintaining partnerships, capable of cultivating strong relationships with existing and prospective partners.
  5. A deep understanding of global biodiversity, climate change and/or sustainable development issues.
  6. Full understanding of fundraising best practices and a track record in successful fundraising.
  7. Exceptional written and verbal communication and writing skills, with fluency in English.
  8. The ability to review and edit team reports before submission to donors.
  9. An ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  10. An ability to travel as required.

Desirable Skills
  1. Ability to work in additional languages, including French, German, and Dutch.
  2. A strong understanding of donor requirements regarding monitoring, evaluation and learning.
  3. Good working knowledge of customer relationship management systems, such as Microsoft Dynamics 365.
