Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Financial Fraud Manager to join our team at AVBOB South Africa. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading our forensic investigation team, focusing on fraud prevention and detection activities in the financial services sector.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the forensic investigation team in monitoring and investigating fraudulent incidents.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Control: Internal Audit to contribute to strategic group projects.
  • Manage day-to-day team activities, including effective case allocation, progress tracking, and guidance.
  • Ensure timely completion of ad hoc investigations involving employees and management, treated professionally and confidentially.
  • Monitor identified fraud risks as per the fraud risk register and provide input for updates.
  • Analyze trends and identify emerging risks by reviewing investigation reports.
  • Resolve challenges and escalate issues from the team to maintain efficient investigation and reporting processes.

Fraud Detection and Prevention

  • Develop and implement detection mechanisms to highlight areas susceptible to fraud.
  • Use technology, such as data analysis, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, to develop fraud monitoring and detection techniques.

Budget and Resource Management

  • Assist the Head of Control with budget preparation and expenditure management.
  • Prepare preliminary departmental reports for submission to committees as required.
  • Represent the Forensic Department in committee meetings with the Head of Control when needed.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide expert input on industry best practices to improve business efficiency and effectiveness related to fraud.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement preventive measures and enhance fraud detection mechanisms.
  • Offer insights into trends emanating from investigations and forensic solutions, keeping management informed.
