Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Reinsurance Actuary to join our Analytics team in Sandton. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing optimal reinsurance solutions for clients by providing analytical support to the broking teams and clients.

The Role

As a Reinsurance Actuary, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Obtaining and analysing relevant data from clients to determine trends, patterns and anomalies.
  • Setting up, testing and running models for the client based on their current structures and a range of proposed options.
  • Continually discussing and debating results with Analytics and Broking teams.
  • Contributing in client meetings and presentations (presenting analytics segments of the broker's presentation).
  • Working closely with brokers and/or clients to identify, research, benchmark, analyse and/or resolve ad hoc client issues (e.g. Claims data; systems improvements; impact and implementation of regulatory changes, etc.).

You will also be required to maintain regular contact with key clients through formal and informal means, provide clients with updated information that could impact or interest them, and identify needs/gaps where existing tools, models and processes can be developed or enhanced.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A Fellow of the Actuarial Society of South Africa (or equivalent) qualification.
  • (Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience)
  • FAIS registered and compliant advantageous.
  • Climate change understanding and natural perils modelling advantageous.
  • Experience in VBA, Python and R coding will be advantageous.
  • Experience in ReMetrica or other Dynamic Financial Analysis software will be advantageous.

You will also need to possess advanced MS Office skills, especially advanced Excel, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and sound internal and relationship building skills.

We offer a competitive salary package of ZAR 900,000 - ZAR 1,200,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits including medical aid, retirement fund and annual leave.
