The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of equipment and pilot scale furnace facilities in our Pyrometallurgy Division.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and commission new equipment and facilities
  • Maintain and operate existing equipment and facilities
  • Perform planned maintenance inspections and prepare equipment and facilities for use
  • Attend to breakdowns and provide technical support to ensure efficient execution of mechanical maintenance activities
  • Assist in the commissioning of new equipment/facilities as required
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts on infrastructure through standardization of procedures while delivering on performance against agreed metrics
  • Provide technical support to internal and external clients to ascertain scope requirements and to timeously deliver on research and commercial projects
  • Evaluate facilities, processes, systems, products, or new developments to identify opportunities and deficiencies to ensure continuous improvement
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant SHEQ procedures, guidelines, and rules, and manage risks and hazards through Mintek-approved risk assessments and procedures

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a relevant environment, including a minimum of 2 years direct experience operating as a Mechanical Artisan responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and operation of pilot scale DC arc furnace facilities
  • Knowledge or experience with SHEQ systems is non-negotiable
  • A strong understanding of DC arc furnaces is highly advantageous
  • Physically and medically fit
