Electrical Engineer with Automation Expertise

POSITION PURPOSE

The Automation and Electrical Systems Engineer will provide technical expertise and support for the automation, electrical, and instrumentation department at Capital Recruit. This role aims to achieve the highest efficiency of plant activities and includes reliability and safety operations. The role also involves the management of automation, electrical, and instrumentation projects.

POSITION OUTPUTS

The key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Providing technical advice during troubleshooting and corrective action of automation systems breakdown or failures.
  • Attending to technical queries by operation personnel and providing advice/solutions according to best engineering practice.
  • Administering relevant contracts, contractors, and suppliers associated with the works as a contract holder to ensure compliance to procedures, policies, and guidelines set to support maintenance needs.
  • Monitoring spare parts and inventory for critical instrumentation to ensure availability when required and minimizing production interruptions.
  • Providing technical inputs in the full cycle of procurement processes for contracts, materials, and service requisitions where required.
  • Identifying, proposing, and implementing areas for improvement in instrumentation engineering to enhance operations and improve total equipment reliability.
  • Developing plans, scopes, and leading the execution of shutdown works for instrumentation to ensure completion within specified windows.
  • Forecasting and preparing budgets for instrument-related activities, including maintenance, shutdowns, and projects, for consolidation into departmental yearly Work Program and Budget.
  • Supervising work execution on site, developing procedures and instructions for maintenance, shutdowns, or projects to ensure compliance to safety, specifications, standards, and procedures.
  • Representing the company and participating actively in meetings, discussions, and initiatives relevant to the job roles and business needs.
  • Populating inputs into Computerized Materials and Maintenance Management Systems to ensure accurate data and history of equipment maintenance activities.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Grade 12
  • Bachelor's Degree or B-Tech in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • Siemens S7 - Pro 182 (Required)
  • Siemens PCS 7 (Required)
  • Siemens TIA Portal
  • Siemens VSD/Soft Starter - Advanced Knowledge
  • OSIsoft Experience
  • Low Voltage Switchgear Fundamentals
  • Minimum of 5 years of working experience in Instrumentation & Control Engineering and Maintenance in FMCG environments
  • Working experience in the soya and sunflower crush plant (Desirable)
  • Working experience in silo's/edible oil extraction plant (Desirable)
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and SAP
  • Knowledge of design codes and Industry standards
