Emporium Human Capital is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Chief Operating Officer to lead the development and operational ramp-up of large-scale, underground base metal mines in the Northern Cape Province.



Key Responsibilities


  2. Lead project development, construction, and commissioning of the mines, with a focus on achieving zero production to a combined ROM production of over three million tonnes per annum.
  3. Manage and direct senior management teams, ensuring effective project and financial management.
  4. Develop and implement quality and risk management strategies, ensuring compliance with South African mining regulations and local stakeholder engagement.
  5. Collaborate with suppliers, service providers, and internal teams to drive business growth and maximize returns.
  6. Lead a diverse team, promoting transformation in the South African mining industry.


Requirements


  2. A degree in Mining, Processing, Mechanical Engineering, or Mine Planning, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in mining operational and project management.
  3. Strong project management qualifications, including experience in large-scale, mechanized underground mining, base metal processing, and concentrate production.
  4. Quality and risk management experience, with a proven track record of executing various contract formats.
  5. At least 5 years of experience in a senior management role, with a legal appointment in an underground mine.
  6. Excellent business skills, with experience in digital solutions and software analysis.
  7. A well-developed network of suppliers and service providers in South Africa.
